About This Print
This print was issued in 1963 by the publisher Katō Junji as part of a set of five small woodblock prints by Yumeji titled Legends of Snowy Nights 雪の夜の伝説. As with the print Cove of Oranges, also part of this set, it is likely that all the designs were originally created as book illustrations. For anotherprint in this set see Landscape with village and two women. For a picture of all the prints in this set also see Cove of Oranges. The below print appears to be printed from the same blocks as the print in this collection but contains a cartouche in the right hand margin. The information in the cartouche is unread but it is likely the seal of the publisher Katō Junji.
