Both volumes of Abstract Harmonic Analysis (1963, 1968, co-authored with
Edwin Hewitt)
have recently been reprinted by Springer-Verlag in relatively
inexpensive paper-back. The ISBN numbers for these paper-backs must be
used in ordering them. They are ISBN 0-387-94190-8 for volume 1 and ISBN
0-387-58318-1 for volume 2. For an interesting story about a result that
could have been in section 9, if we had known it, see subgroups of compactly generated groups.
See also representations of group algebras.

The second edition of my Springer-Verlag book
Elementary Analysis: The Theory of Calculus is available as of April
2013. The first edition was published in 1980.

The fifth edition of Discrete Mathematics, written in collaboration with
Charles R. B. Wright, was published in 2003. The publisher is Prentice-Hall
and the ISBN number is 0-13-065247-4. All praises should be directed to
me: rossmath@pacinfo.com;
send all complaints to Wright
wright@uoregon.edu.
- I have a book A MATHEMATICIAN AT THE BALLPARK: Odds and Probabilities
for Baseball Fans, published in the summer of 2004 by Pi Press. A
paperback
edition came out February 27, 2007 and is published by Plume, a division
of Penguin. It includes a new appendix on fantasy baseball written by my friend Dan Schlewitz. In August 2008 it was remaindered.
