South of Old Town in Bandon, Oregon, US 101 climbs to the top of the continental uplift terrace and runs arrow-straight southward for several miles. Some of Oregon's most scenic coastline lies a mile or so to the west, but you'd never know it from the highway. The key to all this scenic wonder is Beach Loop Road.
Beach Loop Road can be reached at its north end from 8th or 9th Streets in Bandon. A direct route follows 11th Street west from US-101 through a city park to Coquille Point. Beach Loop Road swoops inland to meet US 101 near milepost 277.
