Devil's Kitchen

Devil's Kitchen is a beach access wayside, part of the Bandon State Natural Area along Beach Loop Road in Bandon in southern Coos County, Oregon.  (Map)  It offers paved parking, rest rooms, and easy access  154  to a picturesque beach.

The beach and near-shore waters here are studded with rock formations and sea stacks, large and small.  Sea birds abound.  This is a fascinating stretch of sand for sight-seeing.  Almost three miles from Devil's Kitchen north to Bandon South Jetty Park are hikable, with a few creeks you might cross with dry feet.  Just south of Devil's Kitchen is larger Crooked Creek, likely requiring wading boots or a wet-feet fording.  The next beach access to the south is China Creek, about a mile on the beach; it's also drivable from Beach Loop Road.

This beach is long, stretching from Bandon South Jetty Park at the mouth of the Coquille River south to the mouth of the New River and beyond past Floras Lake towards Blacklock Point.  But creeks abound, so wear soakable beach shoes and be prepared to ford creeks if you want to hike for miles.  On the other hand, beach access points are plentiful along Beach Loop Road as well, so you can explore in chunks.
