The Management Department at Oregon offers courses and programs of study at the undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D levels. The core values of the department center on a commitment to teaching and research. As part of the Lundquist College of Business, the department encourages a collegial and enterprising learning environment characterized by mutual respect for colleagues and students, openness to new ideas, tolerance for divergent points of view, and a genuine spirit of inquiry. The faculty brings considerable expertise to the study of management. The research competencies of department members include global business strategy, strategic human resource management, negotiation and conflict resolution, conducting business in East and Southeast Asia, cross-cultural influences on motivation, labor relations in Eastern Europe, job attitudes and employee behavior at work, managing service organizations, health and wellness issues in the workplace, and leadership. Faculty members have received research grants from the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Education, Office of Naval Research, and the Freeman Foundation. Members of the department have also been active in service to the profession, including two past-Presidents of the Academy of Management, a former Editor of the Academy of Management Journal, and a Senior Editor of Organization Sciences. Faculty have also served on the editorial review boards of many of the leading journals in the field, including Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of International Management, Journal of World Business, Journal of Management Inquiry, and the Journal of Leadership Studies. Members of the department are Fellows of the Academy of Management, American Psychological Association, and American Psychological Society. Members of the department have also been recognized for excellence in classroom instruction on multiple occasions. Moreover, the dedication of department members to learning extends beyond the classroom to include one-on-one mentoring of students, independent studies, and advising students in pursuit of their learning objectives and career goals.
