2D Images

The 2D images are used to present projects and works when presented alone.   2D images are widely used on the net.  They can be the main elements in a page, or a supporting elements.  The methods of presenting 2D images are varied:
  • 2D  images alone
  • 2D images aided with text
  • 2D images with Java effects; see next page

Library of Leisure

Again in my webpage designated for the terminal project, "Library of Leisure", the Context has a lot of 2D images.   The context is used to introduce the contextual issues and information regarding the geographical location, traffic, transportation, neighborhood, the site, and the building.   There are two ways used to present the information: one is the  traditional, drag-down method; the other uses a map to navigate through the information.

Survey Result

Most of surveyees thinks the first method gives clear idea of the background since it is sorted under specified categories.  The information is systematic; however, the process is passive.  The second approach is more interactive since it provides viewers a chance to participate the information gathering process which is more active.  Both provide a better understanding of the neighborhood in 2D images than in text.  Most of them preferred the second approach.

Advantages Disadvantages
  • better understanding of the information presented
  • more stimulation
  • enable to be incorporated with database and search engine if the image size is small.
  • not enough stimulation
  • lack of interaction mostly
  • sometimes not self-explantory
