Grants
The following is a table of four grants we researched this year. We looked for grants that encouraged prevention and monitoring of illegal dumping, rather than solely cleanup. These use education and pollution prevention to encourage environmental stewardship.

Surveys, Studies, Investigations and Special Purpose Grants (Funded by: EPA)

The program funds projects associated with:

  • Air quality, acid deposition, drinking water, water quality, hazardous waste, toxic substances, and pesticides.
  • Identifying, developing and demonstrating necessary pollution control techniques to prevent, reduce, and eliminate pollution.
  • Evaluating the economic and social consequences of alternative strategies and mechanisms for use by those in economic, social, governmental, and environmental management positions.

Community Grant (Funded by: Oregon Community Foundation)

One of the Foundation's priorities is to fund projects that:

  • Preserve and improve Oregon's livability through citizen involvement
  • Build community spirit and consensus about key issues facing Oregonians
  • Train and involve volunteers and leaders to solve problems
  • Help residents improve their local communities and the state

Solid Waste Grants (Funded by: DEQ)

The Department of Environmental Quality provides grants for solid waste, non-point source pollution prevention, and clean water programs. Solid waste grants provide agencies with means of controlling solid waste disposal in their area.

Environmental Education Grant (Funded by: EPA)

Provides funding for projects that “design, demonstrate or disseminate environmental education practices, methods or techniques.” The goal of the program is to “support environmental education projects that enhance the public’s awareness, knowledge, and skills to make informed and responsible decisions that affect environmental quality.”
