Harbor Vista

Harbor Vista Campground & Park is a Lane County park located on the north shore of the mouth of the Siuslaw River, at Florence, Oregon.  The campground is a little up river, and the day use park is at the river mouth, where the north jetty extends into the ocean and dunes meet jetty meet the ocean beach.  The day use area features a large gravel parking lot, a lookout tower, and porta-potties.  It is assigned number  97  in Oregon's system of numbered beach access points.

Harbor Vista offers views of and fishing from the North Jetty, views of surfing kites floating above the South Jetty across the Siuslaw's navigation channel, modest sand dunes, and a broad beach.  You can walk two miles north to Heceta Beach, three miles to Sutton Creek, or if you're comfortable with wet feet, five miles to Baker Beach.  On a clear day, you can see Heceta Head and its lighthouse in the distance to the north.

Lane County parks are operated on a fee basis.  You can buy an annual pass for $40, or visit the pay station on the way in.

You can reach Harbor Vista via 35th St in Florence near milepost 188 on US101, or by driving Rhododendron Drive from downtown Florence.  Either way, it's about three miles; US101 and Florence are set back from the ocean a bit by the dunes.
