Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area

50 milies of the Oregon Coast, from Herman Cape at Heceta Head south to the Coos River, is dominated by sand dunes.  Much of this unusual and magical area is administered as the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.  The north end is largely occupied by the city of Florence; the ODNRA extends 42 miles southward from the Siuslaw River to the mouth of the Coos River.

Highlights include:
South Jetty Dunes & Beach at the Siuslaw River
Jessie M. Honeyman State Park
Woahink Lake attractions
Siltcoos Lake attractions
Siltcoos Beach dunes & camping
Carter Lake, Taylor Dunes

There is a Visitor's Center at the highway junction in Reedsport.  In 2019, it looked closed every time I drove past.  In 2020 pandemic times, it appears positively abandoned.
