TeXShop is a Tex previewer for Mac OS X. I maintained this program from 2001 to 2026. Yusuke Terada in Japan took over maintenance in fall of 2026. Yusuke used TeXShop for years and often contributed code to the project. Since he is young, he will be able to continue support for a long time to come.

Yusuke's new version of TeXShop has many fixes for Apple's latest system, macOS Golden Gate. To obtain his version, go to

The initial release of TeXShop from Yusuke is version 5.59. Note that you cannot use Sparkle to update your current version of TeXShop because older versions of TeXShop access the old site rather than Yusuke Terada's site.

TeXShop relies on the MacTeX install program to install a TeX Distribution used to typeset. The MacTeX project has been taken over by Bruno Voisin, who helped put it together and test it for many years. He also kept track of changes in Ghostscript which has been supplied as part of MacTeX. The next version of MacTeX will first be coming out based on next year's TeX Live but there is a learning curve in the MacTeX production and that work has already started.

Until the new version of MacTeX is available, the current version of this install package can be used. That version installs an old version of TeXShop, which should be ignored when using Yusuke's latest TeXShop 5.59.

In the meantime, current versions of Ghostscript are available below on this page, but these versions will not be updated as new Ghostscript releases are made. Updates will come directly from Bruno Voisin's part of the project.

Ghostscript 10.07.1 was released on April 19, 2026. This version can be installed without removing earlier versions of Ghostscript first. The install package below has universal Intel and Arm binaries and works on macOS Big Sur and above. At the moment there is no associated Ghostscript 10.07.1-Extras, but that program is required by only one program in TeX Live, dvisvgm. In the unlikely case that you use dvisvgm, do not update. Others can update to Ghostscript 10.07.1. Revert back to Ghostscript-10.07.0 in case of trouble. Thanks to Bruno Voisin for keeping contact with the Ghostscript folks and notifying us when the new version appeared.

Ghostscript 10.07.0 was released on March 16, 2026. An install package is provided below. The package has universal Intel and Arm binaries and works on macOS Big Sur and above. An associated install package for Ghostscript-10.07.0-Extras, containing the Ghostscript Library and muTool 1.27.2, is also provided. These extra items are required by only one program in TeX Live, dvisvgm. Ghostscript 10.06.0 was released on September 9, 2025. An install package is provided below. The package has universal Intel and Arm binaries and works on macOS Catalina and above. An associated install package for Ghostscript-10.06.0-Extras, containing the Ghostscript Library and muTool 1.26.8, is also provided. These extra items are required by only one program in TeX Live, dvisvgm. In case of trouble, revert to Ghostscript 10.05.1. Ghostscript 10.05.1 was released on April 29, 2025. An install package is provided below. The package has universal Intel and Arm binaries and works on macOS Catalina and above. An associated install package for Ghostscript-10.05.1-Extras, containing the Ghostscript Library and muTool 1.25.6, is also provided. These extra items are required by only one program in TeX Live, dvisvgm. In case of trouble, revert to Ghostscript 10.05.0. Ghostscript 10.05.0 was released on March12, 2025. An install package is provided below. The package has universal Intel and Arm binaries and works on macOS Catalina and above. An associated install package for Ghostscript-10.05.0-Extras, containing the Ghostscript Library and muTool 1.25.4, is also provided. These extra items are required by only one program in TeX Live, dvisvgm. In case of trouble, revert to Ghostscript 10.04.0. Note that Ghostscript 10.05.0 no longer supports Mojave, macOS 10.14. It is likely that the full MacTeX package in 2026 will also drop support for Mojave. The Hint Project is a typesetting project by Martin Ruckert, described on the web page https://hint.userweb.mwn.de. The command line typesetting programs hitex and hilatex from this project are in TeX Live. They convert TeX and LaTeX source files to "hint files" rather than "pdf files"; hint files contain information needed to reflow the text if the user resizes the view or magnifies the text. Ruckert wrote hint file viewers for various operating systems; his viewer for macos is in the MacTeX install package. That viewer is also available below, together with a README file with more information about the project. The viewer below has been updated to also support HINT Format Version 2.1, with added support for color. The hitex program in TeX Live 2025 will have this added support when TeX Live 2025 is released later in 2025.
