Presentation
at Springfield High School
&
Springfield Agnes Stewart Middle School
The goal of the
school presentations was to inform public school children in Springfield
on the issues
the Mill Race faces and
the Mill Race Restoration project in a fun and interactive way. The idea
is that
if they are aware of the problems at the Mill Race and the Restoration
efforts, they are more likely to be concerned about and involved in the
Restoration, both now and in the future.

The Mill Race
team had the opportunity to give a presentation to the 7th grade students
in Carrie Patterson's science class at Agnes Stewart Middle school. Ms.
Patterson has been teaching her
students about salmon habitat, riparian zones, and water quality all year.
With the Jasper Slough and bioswale located directly behind the school,
the kids have had the benefit of learning about water
quality and watershed habitat firsthand. The Mill Race team created a
more animated version of our presentation for the students and they really
enjoyed it and participated well. When talking about invasive species,
the "Mr. Blackberry Man" got a lot of laughs. They enjoyed all
of the extra images that the team added and they showed a great enthusiasm
about the presentation.
